Making a Lasting Impact in August

September 2, 2025

August was another great month of community impact at Gulf Winds! Our team donated $20,000 to the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation, provided meals and books to children through Hunger Fight, and made a substantial impact to community-focused senior services including the Escambia County Agency on Aging and the Retreat. Every act, big or small, strengthened our commitment to serving others. Check out these stories and the other ways we moved our community forward this month.

Ronald McDonald House | August 7

Cooking up meals at Ronald McDonald House is something our team always looks forward to! From menu planning to shopping and prepping, we love putting our heart into every meal we serve. There’s nothing better than sharing good food—and a little kindness—with the families in our community.

The Retreat | August 13, 20

Leaders from across our organization had a fantastic day at the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce golf tournament! We loved connecting with others and supporting the Brewton community.

Cat Country Cares for Kids Radiothon | August 15

We’re proud our team could volunteer and sponsor the Cat Country Cares for Kids Radiothon, benefiting Studer Family Children’s Hospital. Together, we helped raise funds and awareness for local patients and families. At Gulf Winds, we believe in the strength of our community and the impact of giving back.

Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation Check Presentation | August 15

For the 11th year, Gulf Winds is proud to support the Cat Country 98.7 Cares for Kids Radiothon with a $20,000 donation to Studer Family Children’s Hospital. As our region’s only children’s hospital, their care makes a difference for so many families, and we’re honored to help give kids the healthiest start possible.

Making Strides Kickoff | August 21

We were honored to attend the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kick-off event! It’s inspiring to stand with our community and we can’t wait to attend this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in late October.

Hunger Fight | August 23

In Tallahassee our team supported Hunger Fight, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger and improving childhood literacy. Our team participated in a fun-filled packing event, assisting with packing over 141, 670 meals and 4,960 books for children in the community

Manna Food Pantries | August 27

Volunteering with Manna Food Pantries is always a rewarding experience. This month, our team helped sort donations to support families facing food insecurity.

AOA Atmore & Brewton | August 27

We volunteered and gave back to the Escambia County Agency on Aging. Their work empowers Alabama’s seniors with resources, care, and meaningful connections—just what our Gulf Winds Foundation loves to champion.
