Summer Side Hustles

Whether you’re a seasonal worker, student, or full-time employee, summer is a great time of year to earn some extra cash. One of the best ways to do so is by picking up a side hustle, and there are tons of them out there. But which one is best for you? We’ll break down five popular side hustles below.

Amazon Flex

Like grocery or food delivery, Amazon Flex pays you to deliver packages. You can set your own schedule and deliver as much, or as little, as you want. Amazon Flex is great for people who don’t work traditional 9-5 jobs or those who like to earn extra money on the weekends. Amazon Flex is only available to those 21 years and older and is only available in select cities, so be sure to review where you can deliver before signing up.

Mow lawns

Lawn mowing jobs are a staple in modern suburbia. People are busy, and some would rather pay someone else to do their yard work than do it themselves. Lawn mowing is a flexible job that’s fitting for just about everyone, from children to retirees. You can advertise lawn mowing services yourself, or pick up seasonal work with a landscaping company. Keep in mind that people may also be looking for hedging or raking services, so it may be advantageous to offer those to your client base.

Clean houses

Likewise, some people would rather pay someone else to clean their home. Many house cleaning companies offer seasonal or part-time jobs. You can also start a cleanup company yourself. Startup costs are minimal – all you need is cleaning supplies. House cleaning is a great side hustle for someone who lives in an urban area with few yards. It’s also great for college students looking for a break from the stress of schooling.

User testing

If you enjoy playing around with new products, software, or websites, being a test user may be the side hustle for you. Companies are always innovating, and they need consumers to work out the kinks and review their products. Websites UserTesting makes it easy – all you need is a computer and an internet connection. User testing is a great side hustle for someone who is homebound or does not have the time to drive around for a side hustle.

Pet sit

Pet sitting is an animal lover’s dream. And it's a great side hustle for those who work remotely. There are many ways to advertise pet sitting services, from social media posts to placing signs around town. You can also find pet sitting gigs on websites like Rover. Pet sitting is great for people who are already pet owners, or for those who don’t enjoy delivering food or cleaning a stranger’s home. Plus, watching after a four-legged friend can boost your mood!

Everyone’s job situation and talents differ, so only you know what side hustle works best. There are tons of other side hustles out there, from ridesharing to renting space in your home. Be sure to check out our blog highlighting six other side hustles to consider.
