America Saves Week Day 1 — Save Automatically
It’s America Saves Week! Since 2007, America Saves Week has been an annual celebration and call-to-action for everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully. Each year, Gulf Winds joins credit unions from around the nation to encourage our members to dedicate this week to their financial health. Join us this week to get a clear view of your finances, set your financial goals and make a plan to achieve them! Participating in America Saves Week will set you on the path toward building financial resilience. Being financially resilient is more than having access to money; it includes being conscious of your own financial landscape, being aware of available resources, and being willing to seek out and take advantage of opportunities that will support and increase your financial wellness.
Each day this week is dedicated to a different way or reason for saving. Today's theme is save automatically.
Day 1 (Monday, Feb. 21): Save Automatically
We kick off Day One of America Saves Week by focusing on the easiest and most effective way to save— to SAVE AUTOMATICALLY. How do you save automatically? The two best ways to save automatically are to 1) split your direct deposit into both your checking and savings account or 2) have Gulf Winds automatically transfer a predetermined amount from your checking to savings every month. By saving automatically you’ll adopt a “set it and forget it” approach that increases your success. And remember, savings is a HABIT, not a destination.
Resource of the Day: Here is Sherri's story about the importance of saving.
Keep on Saving
Stay tuned for more useful information and resources about saving money this week. Here are the themes for the rest of the week:

Meeting your savings goals won't happen in just a week. It could take years of planning and following good habits to build your financial resilience. We recommend taking the savings pledge.
