How do I become a member?

You only need $5 to open a savings account and begin your lifetime membership with Gulf Winds. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the below counties. Businesses and other legal entities located in these counties, and anyone who is an immediate family member of a current member can join too! Valid ID required.

How do I switch my bank accounts to Gulf Winds?

We make it easy to switch your accounts! After you open your account and receive your account number, download our Switch Kit and use these forms to make the switch easier.

There aren't any branches where I live. How can I do my banking with Gulf Winds?

You can bank with Gulf Winds no matter where you live. Our digital banking services allow you access anytime, from anywhere and on any device. You can even stay on top of your account information when you’re not logged in by setting up email and text alerts!

What's the difference between a bank and a credit union?

Bottom-line: We work to help our members. Banks make profits for shareholders. And that difference is huge. Unlike banks, at Gulf Winds, our members are owners – people just like you who want to save money, get a loan, and make their financial life easy. Every member owns an equal “share” in Gulf Winds, regardless of how much money they have in their account. As a non-profit, our earnings directly benefit you in the form of higher savings rates, better loan rates and lower fees.

Are free ATMs available at Gulf Winds?

There are no fees for our members to use any ATM located at a Gulf Winds Branch or any ATM in the CO-OP or Allpoint Network. In fact, our members have access to more than fee-free 85,000 ATMs nationwide!

Do I need to be a member before I apply for a loan?

No, you do not need to be a member to apply for a loan. However, you will have to join if you are approved.

How do I order or re-order checks?

Gulf Winds offers several ways to order checks. If you have ordered checks for your account previously, you can easily re-order through our digital banking services at any time while logged in. Or, if you prefer, you can drop off your check order form (found in your register) at any of our branches or mail the form to our Nine Mile branch. If you have not ever ordered checks from Gulf Winds, you may call toll free 1.800.650.6328 and place your order.

How do I apply for a credit card?

Use our quick application to apply for your Gulf Winds credit card today. You can also call us at 1.800.650.6328 or visit one of our convenient branch locations. Learn more here.

How do I pay my credit card?

How do I earn credit card rewards?

If you have a Visa Platinum Reward Card, you can earn one point for every dollar of every purchase! Points can be used in all sorts of ways

How do I check and redeem my credit card reward points?

You can check the balance of your credit card rewards points by logging into Gulf Winds Online and Mobile Banking and selecting “Get My Rewards.” You can redeem your credit card rewards points by selecting “Get My Rewards” and then selecting the benefit you wish to redeem with your available points balance.

How do I report fraud or dispute charges?

Visa has a dedicated support line where you can file a claim or make a dispute. Just call 1.866.791.6842 and select option 4.

Digital Banking FAQs

How do I enroll in online and mobile banking?

You can enroll in our digital banking tools here or you can click or tap “Enroll” on the app. The registration takes only a few seconds but you’ll need to be ready with a unique login name of your choice, your SSN, DOB and Zip Code. Once complete, you will be able to view and manage your Gulf Winds accounts on any device.

How do I download the Gulf Winds App?

It’s easy to download our app. Search “Gulf Winds Mobile Banking” in the Google Play or Apple App Store or learn more. All the features that are available to you on your desktop are also available on your smartphone or tablet.

What if I forgot my password?

To reset your password, you will need to select the “Forgot Password” link on the login page. You will be prompted to confirm your identity, and once this is completed, you will be prompted to create a new password.

What if I forgot my username?

To request your username, you will need to visit your branch or call our contact center. You will be required to answer security questions or present a photo ID. Our staff will be able to communicate your username once your identity is verified.

How do I deposit a check through mobile banking?

It’s easy! Open the Gulf Winds app on your smartphone or tablet and select “Deposit a Check” from the menu. Endorse your check with your signature and write clearly “Mobile Deposit Only Gulf Winds.” Then take pictures of the front and back of your check to complete the deposit. Still have questions? Can I pay my bills through your digital banking tools?

Yes! Gulf Winds’ free online Bill Pay is an easy way to save time and reduce some of the hassle of paying monthly bills. Just log in, select “Pay” from the main menu and then select “My Bills.” It’s easy to enroll.

How do I sign up for e-Statements?

To sign up for eStatements, log in to Gulf Winds Online Banking. The menu option to enroll in eStatements is “Statement Delivery.” Change the delivery preference for the account you’d like to enroll to “Electronic Documents.” You’ll be prompted to then verify that you can view PDF documents on your device. Follow the steps and you’re enrolled!

Branch FAQs

Where are your branches located?

We have 13 branch locations along with a nationwide network of more than 85,000 CO-OP and Allpoint ATMs. Click or tap “More Info” for hours and services at each location.

How do I contact my local branch?

For immediate assistance please call 1.800.650.6328. One of our highly trained Member Service Representatives will be able to handle any questions you may have, and if you still need to contact your local branch, they will transfer your call.

Do you have coin machines at your branches?

Coin machines are located at the following branches: 

Pensacola Region: Blue Angel, Milton, Nine Mile
Tallahassee Region: Monroe Street
Alabama Region: Atmore, Brewton

Please note that there is a 3% fee assessed when using this machine.

Can I deposit loose or rolled coins in the drive-thru?

We do not allow loose or rolled coins to be deposited through the drive-thru tubes as the added weight can result in a jam in the vacuum tube system. If you have coins that you’d like to deposit via drive-thru, just alert one of our tellers and they’ll be happy to come out and collect it for you.

Can I make deposits after my branch is closed?

Yes, we offer members the option to drop off deposits in a Night Drop at most of our branch locations. Learn more.

Security FAQs

How do you keep my accounts safe?

As a Gulf Winds member, you can be assured that we are constantly improving the ways we safeguard and protect your account. We use advanced technology to help protect you from fraud and continuously monitor our website and apps to ensure they remain secure for our members. We will never initiate a call asking you to provide confidential information. If a call seems suspicious, please hang up and call us back directly to confirm that the call was legitimate.

Do you offer a Fraud Alert System for my account(s)?

Gulf Winds has a text message service that will notify you of suspicious activity on your accounts. This feature summarizes any transaction flagged in our system and allows you to identify fraud quickly if needed. You are auto-enrolled in this free service and can opt-out at any time. Please ensure your phone number is updated in our system to receive these notifications.

Is my eStatement secure and safe?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you to go paperless and receive statements and other documents digitally. Going paperless reduces the threat of mail fraud and identity theft. It is also more convenient, and best of all, there is no fee.

The Child Tax Credit is bigger this year than ever before due to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a COVID relief bill passed in Congress earlier this year. If you have questions about the Child Tax Credit, what changed, and how it will impact you, please visit our blog or the IRS website for more information. Do I have to close my account if I move?

No! Gulf Winds has full service digital banking, allowing you to bank anytime, anywhere. It’s also easy to find an ATM near you.

How do I find an ATM?

Our members have access to more than 90 free local ATMs and more than 85,000 ATMs nationwide!

What do I do in the event of a loss of a loved one?
